As introduced in the above welcoming video, our goal here is twofold: firstly, to introduce the concept and practice of care-full scholarship and provide an analytical framework that can help you highlight the care-full aspects of your work; and secondly, to cultivate your ability to review more or less familiar aspects of care theory from different and perhaps new perspectives.

Thinking through how the interconnected dimensions of caring with (caring about, caring for, care giving, care receiving) and sensitivities of response-able care practice (attentiveness, responsibility, competence, responsiveness, reciprocity) can be developed in connection with a range of different scholarly tasks (namely, research, teaching, doctoral supervision and net-weaving), we will delve into these topics by listening to the experiences, insights, and tools of a number of guest contributors.

In accordance with the Charter of Aspirations guiding this MOOC, we would like to propose some invitations as you approach the unit:

  1. Cultivate an explorative and non-judgmental mindset as you listen to the various contributions; try putting on new lenses to approach a certain issue;
  2. Raise questions freely and post them in the discussion board, as well as share your insights, experiences, and related resources. The contributors are here to trigger our curiosity and interest, offering different points of inquiry, and opening the floor for deeper discussions amongst the members of our community.

Please find Unit 3 themed templates below should you like to use them for this Unit.

If you would like to organise a workshop on care-full scholarship run by one of our course convenors, perhaps to introduce a class or group to this Care-full MOOC please start the conversation by sending an email to Sloth
