What does care-full scholarship mean to you?
Before providing our coordinates regarding ideas & practices of care-full scholarship, we would like to first elicit your thoughts, by inviting you to do a simple exercise with the help of a set of visual cards.
Look at the set of cards (scroll down from the first image to see all the cards). We would like you to choose two.
- The first card should help you answer this question: ‘What does care-full scholarship mean to you?’
- The second card should reflect how you feel right now and what impact that might have as you consider care-full scholarship today.
Once you have chosen, comment under the picture which question you are answering, complemented by a short sentence or keyword explaining your thoughts.
Extra step (optional)
As a further step of reflexive practice, consider how the available cards affected your reflection, which can be then related to a key aspect in care-full scholarship: beware of the conceptual tools, and their historical-theoretical baggage they come with.
Meta-reflection:
Eliciting thoughts with visual prompt cards is a simple yet powerful exercise that you can use in your teaching, research, or teamwork! It can be done at the beginning or at the end of a workshop/lecture/meeting. For more information about this method check out ‘Online Harvest with Dixit cards’ on re.imaginary.com
