Lesson 4
Charter of Aspirations
As noted in Unit 1: Lesson 1, our Community of Practice is fuelled by a number of aspirations. In the spirit of the transparency, inclusivity & accountability that animates this MOOC, we would like to take a moment here to spell out those aspirations that guided our design and implementation, or at least the most important ones, and the ways in which we plan to practice those values in our MOOC.
This is our Care-full Scholarship Charter of Aspirations:

→ OUR INVITATION TO YOU:
In the MOOC we encourage varying degrees of involvement, and leave it for you to:
- decide to what extent you wish to engage and commit, and to shape your learning process in the way that fits your time and goals best;
- ‘respect your timing’ deciding which style of learning fits you best for which lesson/stage of the MOOC and of your learning process. At times you may prefer to engage with the course materials on your own, other times you can use them as a conversation starter with colleagues, and another time you may want to organise a peer-to-peer session with one or more members of our Community of Practice;
- decide how much you want to engage with emotions and what feels right depending on the circumstances. In other words: ‘go as deep as it feels right for you’;
- 'wear your curiosity glasses’ and let yourself be surprised and inspired by others and what they share;
- exercise the saying ‘progress not perfection’. Trust the learning process and do what you can without putting too much pressure on yourself.
- contribute to the MOOC via a pseudonym if you prefer, or with your true identity if you feel it safe to do so, as dependent on the national and/ or institutional regime in which you are based
