Between them, as well as covering both the short and longer term, all these guest contributors place emphasis on the importance of remaining mindful that any continuing relationship they have with academia is a care-full one and one respectful of their own terms.

For a long time I'd resisted the notion of continuing on in academia. But more recently, over the last year and a half, I've been coming across academics that are working in ways that really align with my values and it's helped me to see that there are possibilities to be able to pursue an academic career on my terms.
