Zhanna Baimukhamedova
Biography
Zhanna Baimukhamedova was a RECOMS fellow, and is based at the Rachel Carson Center, LMU Munich, Germany working on her PhD ‘Transforming the Bavarian Forest: Socio-Ecological Crises, Community Resilience and Sustainability from a Historical Perspective’.
She holds an MSc degree in Urban Studies. For her graduate programme, she attended six universities in Brussels, Vienna, Copenhagen, and Madrid and wrote her thesis on how technology and social media affect tourism patterns in Berlin and Madrid. For her BA degree, Zhanna focused on the emigration of the Kazakhstan-born Germans after the fall of the Soviet Union. Zhanna’s research experience includes projects on heritage and memory, nature-wildlife conflicts and environmental history/stories both in Europe and Kazakhstan.
