Hopes and Fears matrix
In order to start your learning process for this MOOC with awareness, we now invite you to do a simple exercise, called Hopes and Fears. The idea is to map your hopes and fears with respect to this MOOC. This is also a way to identify what your own learning objectives are (including whether these precisely map on to those we have set out for the course as a whole, or whether they are more particular to your own individual experience and ambitions), and what possible barriers or obstacles might get in the way of your learning process.
You will find two boards on the dedicated platform below - one for hopes, one for fears - where you can share your thoughts. You may prefer to map hopes and fears on a separate file, and keep it only for yourself for use as part of your accompanying Learning Journal (which will be introduced at the end of Unit 2). To aid this, there is a downloadable Hopes and Fears Matrix MS Word document below.
Meta Reflection: This tool can be used in many different contexts, so we invite you to try it out with other people in your research and practice, at the start of a process, a workshop, or a lecture. It is also a very valuable source of information for the MOOC organisers, and can help shape the future editions, so thank you for contributing.
The hopes and fears matrix was inspired by a combination of different methods including the work of facilitator Neža Krek.
