For many of you taking this course, you will likely be affiliated to an academic institutional setting. Equally as interesting though is the experience of those of you who are independent scholars and/ or are affiliated with other public, private, or third sector institutions. Whatever your context, please take this opportunity to watch the two videos below and then reflect and share with others (in the Discussion Board) your answers to the questions posed in the files tab at the top of the page.

As you consider what makes a care-full institutional setting, you might find it helpful to also revisit the list of care definitions and mind-map of care-full facets which featured in Lesson 5 of this Unit.

NB we will return to dwell further on issues of care-multiple, care giving versus care receiving, and care-full journeying later in this MOOC.

QUESTIONS:

  • What is the extent to which your current institutional setting (or freedom from one) shapes the extent to which what you care about and are passionate about maps on to your professional work – i.e. your daily professional practices of care giving, be it in a research, teaching, netweaving, or other context?
  • What makes for a more care-full institutional setting?
