There is much to be absorbed and considered in the above care-full scholarship analytical framework. We do not expect you to address all the richness within this Unit alone. Rather, this is something that we will do together over the remainder of this course.

As a starter please just take a moment to begin considering and discussing with others your responses to the first two dimensions and associated ethical principles (either via the Discussion Board below, or if you would like to self-organise via a private discussion group, see here for how). Below are some prompting questions to assist with this:

Caring about:

  • What concerns (at a personal, community, societal, global level) inform your practice? In other words: what do you care about and how does that affect the things you study/ research/ teach/ engage in?
  • But also, what flavours of care do you explore in your practice? (including in relation to the three related strands explored earlier in this MOOC: situated knowledges, plurality & positionality; power & justice; more-than-human)
  • What needs do you notice in your practice, being attentive to the people you work with? And how does this link to what you care about?

Caring for:

  • How do you respond to the needs for care (of the people you work with)?
  • How do you translate your concerns (at personal, community, societal, global level) into practices?
  • What actions (visible and invisible) do you implement?
