Reflection & Learning Journey
This brings us to the close of Unit 2.
In this Unit you have been introduced to some key scholarship from within the vast body of literature which exists on FCE.
Most especially this has been centred around Tronto and Fisher’s 5 phases of caring and their associated 5 moral principles. Namely:
- Caring about/ attentiveness
- Caring for/ responsibility
- Care giving/ competence
- Care receiving/ responsiveness
- Caring with/ reciprocity and solidarity
And also, the closely associated concept of response-ability.
In the course of introducing these we have also made reference to:
- Care as conflict
- Care as emotional labour
In parallel, with the help of a number of guest speakers, we have touched upon a number of other key concepts and associated bodies of scholarship which both inform and are informed by the logic of FCE. Namely:
- Situated knowledges, plurality and positionality
- Power and Justice
- Posthumanism
Whether this has been your first encounter with FCE scholarship, or merely a re-cap, we hope that it inspires you to continue on to Unit 3.
In Unit 3 we explain how the logic of FCE can be applied to inform the practicing of care-full scholarship.
But first, on the next page, we introduce to the Learning Journal resource which will accompany you through the remainder of the MOOC.
