Whilst feminist care ethics (FCE) theory acts as the primary foundation for the conceptualisation of care informing our approach to care-full scholarship proposed in this MOOC, it is important to also briefly acknowledge some of the other bodies of literature which fundamentally inform and are woven into how care-full scholarship is conceived here.  Namely:

  • situated knowledges, plurality and positionality
  • Power and justice
  • More-than-human worlds

As it is only possible to introduce the relevance of these in summative form, we have added accompanying further suggested readings in our MOOC resource library, prioritising open access copies wherever possible.

In addition to inviting your own thoughts in connection with each of the concepts and supporting bodies of scholarship introduced in the remainder of this Unit, we also very much encourage you to share your own disciplinary and conceptual starting points, plus your recommendations on other concepts and bodies of scholarship you find yourself thinking with when it comes to exploring for yourself what it means to be a care-full scholar. There will also be other opportunities to contribute in this way throughout the course.
