Embodied researcher: what do I bring & what do I need?
Using the metaphor and image of the ‘embodied researcher’, we invite you to map your ‘needs’ as well as to gain stronger awareness of your ‘strengths’. There is more than one way to engage with this exercise. You can use the purple boards (links below) to list your 'strengths' and your 'needs'. Alternatively you will find a downloadable template at the bottom of the page with a 'researcher' for you to annotate and, potentially, share on the pin board. (There is a version for MS Word and Apple Pages users).
Whichever way you choose to do this exercise, think about the following questions:
1. What do you bring to this MOOC, in terms of:
- theoretical foundations (brain),
- visions and wishes (hearts),
- practical tools, competences, and networks (hands),
- and, lived experience in different contexts of action and practice (feet)?
These are all your STRENGTHS, and you can type them into the purple Padlet boards, or write down keywords around the embodied researcher figure;

2. What do you need in order to develop as a care-full scholar, in terms of:
- theoretical foundations (brain),
- visions and wishes (hearts),
- practical tools, competences, and networks (hands),
- and, lived experience in different contexts of action and practice (feet)?
These are all your NEEDS, and you can write them down as keywords around your embodied researcher figure or list them in the appropriate place in the purple Padlet below.

Meta-Reflection:
This exercise is a reflexivity tool, to support your thinking and your commitment, as we start this learning process, and to acknowledge your knowledge and experience.
As the MOOC progresses, we invite you to look back at your keywords, and find ways to fine-tune your learning process in the way that most fits your resources, and especially your (evolving) needs.
